Introduction

At Orbit, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our Chrome extension.

Data Storage

Your conversations stay on your device. Orbit stores all conversation data locally on your machine using Chrome's local storage API. We have no servers that store your AI conversations, and we have no way to access them.

What We Collect

We only collect the minimum data necessary to provide authentication and premium features:

Email address - Used for account authentication
Premium subscription status - To determine feature access
Stripe customer ID - For payment processing (if you purchase premium)

What We Don't Collect

We explicitly do not collect, store, or have access to:

Your AI conversation content
Messages you send or receive
Any personal data from your conversations
Browsing history outside of supported AI platforms

Analytics

Anonymous usage statistics (optional): With your consent, we collect anonymous usage data to help improve Orbit. This includes:

Feature usage (e.g., searches, transfers, exports)
App opens and navigation patterns
Error events for debugging

This data is:

Anonymous - We use a randomly generated ID, not linked to your account
Optional - You can opt out at any time in Settings
Never includes conversation content - We only track which features you use, not what you say

We use Google Analytics 4 (via Measurement Protocol) for this purpose. You can disable analytics collection in the extension settings under "Share Usage Statistics".

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google) - For authentication and user account management
Stripe - For secure payment processing (premium subscriptions only)
Google Analytics 4 - For anonymous usage analytics (only if you opt in)

These services have their own privacy policies and handle data according to their terms.

Chrome Permissions

Orbit requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage - To save your conversations locally on your device
activeTab - To detect when you're on supported AI platforms
scripting - To extract conversation data from AI platform pages
sidePanel - To display the Orbit interface

Data Security

All data stored locally is protected by Chrome's built-in security features. Data transmitted to our authentication servers (email, subscription status) is encrypted using industry-standard SSL/TLS protocols.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Delete your account and all associated data at any time
Export your locally stored conversation data
Request information about what data we store (email and subscription status only)

Children's Privacy

Orbit is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date.
